Mrs. Caren Gunter

 

Mrs. Caren Gunter is a native Texan. She obtained all of her 1-12 education in Orange, Texas at McLewis Elementary School and Orangefield Jr/Sr High School finishing in 1972. Mrs. Gunter received her Bachelors of Music Education degree with an emphasis in piano from McNeese State University in 1978. She then received her certification in vocal music education from Lamar State University in Beaumont in 1979.

 

Mrs. Gunter has taught elementary choir for 28 years. She has taught at Mossville Elementary, R. W. Vincent Elementary, W. T. Henning Elementary, Starks High School, Maplewood Elementary, Vinton Elementary in Calcasieu Parish. She taught at Orangefield Elementary back in her home town for 19 years before retiring from the great state of Texas. Mrs. Gunter is now in her 5th year in Cameron Parish and splits time between Hackberry High School and Johnson Bayou High School.

 

Mrs. Gunter is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota (Women’s Music Fraternity) and the Lake Charles Messiah Chorus. She lives in Sulphur, LA with her husband Gary who is retired from Firestone.

 

Mrs. Gunter has three children: Daughter Julie (husband Olin; children, Rylie [6 years old], Laura [4 years old], and Trace [1 year old]), Son Christopher (wife Sarah who is expecting in April), and son Jonathan (wife Meredith; children, Landon [6 years old], Grace and Graham [2 years old]). That makes 7 grandchildren:)!
