Student Safety Summits Announced for January 2025

We are pleased to announce that Cameron Parish schools will host Student Safety Summits throughout the month of January. These summits aim to educate and empower students to make informed, responsible decisions regarding their safety and well-being.  These presentations are targeted for all 7th to 12th grade students at each school and will last approximately one hour.

Presentations will be led by Sheriff Chris Savoie, District Attorney Tom Barrett, and Assistant District Attorney Michael Cassidy, who will speak directly to students about critical issues, including:

• The dangers and consequences of making school threats

• Illegal drug use

• Underage drinking

• Vaping

• Social media safety

• Bullying

• January 14, 2025:

• Grand Lake High School (GLHS) @ 8:00 AM

• South Cameron High School (SCHS) @ 10:00 AM

• January 21, 2025:

• Hackberry High School (HHS) @ 8:00 AM

• Johnson Bayou High School (JBHS) @ 10:00 AM
